Muslims celebrate thanksgiving with us!

Hey, that's great! And it's about time. According to an article from Rocky Mountain News, Muslims in November organized a Thanksgiving celebration at an Interfaith conference, helping Americans remember how the Pilgrims praised and gave thanks to Allah... Hey, isn't it about time we allowed the Muslims help us celebrate one of the most treasured American holidays in a new and violent I mean vibrant way? I mean, God/Allah, Potato/Potahto, right?

According to the article, the Muslim Group lead an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service for the first time in its history, filled with Koran passages read by 3 Imams, and Muslim children singing religious songs. According to the article, one Imam was quoted as saying, "Thanksgiving may have had some historical context when it started... but when it comes to making it the only way to celebrate it, the concept is no longer valid."

I do wonder, though, what Thanksgiving is all about in the Islamic tradition. Nevermind that their efforts here are centered on rewriting American history. I mean, who are the Pilgrims giving thanks to? The Lord God, or Allah? And how are the "Christians" to respond in this interfaith (read: apostacy) conference, whereby the Koran says 16 times that God is not a Father and has no son. And, if you believe in trinity, you go to hell. But hey, let's let bygones be bygones!

I wonder if there were any parents of suicide bombers giving thanks for their sons now living in Paradise as Mohammad promised. In Islamic countries, parents have parties and pass out sweets and celebration because Allah rewarded them for killing innocent people. In one mine field in Iran v Iraq, 5,000 school boys were killed when the Ayatollah promised paradise if they blew themselves up to clear the way for their troops. Give thanks everyone!

Thanksgiving Songs? I wonder what kind? If there were Islamic, perhaps they were about about Muslims slaughtering Jews? Or during the Muslim conquest from France to China, the bloodiest story in history. Or maybe songs honoring the takeover of India, where historians tell us they killed more than Hitler killed. Or perhaps the building of the Taj Mahal built by 20,000 slave labors. Or perhaps the Turkish Ottoman Empire that slaughtered 1,000,000 Armenians.

Yes, perhaps those songs were sung, so long as there weren't any songs about those pilgrims back there! Let's not be so narrow minded!
