New Literal 6 Feature : "Today's Entries"

Just wanted to post a note that I've added a feature at Literal 6 that shows just the entries added today. Not only that, but I've expanded this to also show yesterday's, because if you view Literal 6 at 6:00 AM, you won't see as many entries listed as you would if you looked at 6:00 PM.

Any thoughts on further enhancements welcome.

Aaaaaargh! Before the Horse

The evolutionists 'dating' and 'redating' of fossil finds to fit new discoveries is fascinating and sad at the same time. In the most recent case, ant lions, a carnivorous insect that eats ants, are dated way before ants were 'dated' alive, and so evolutionists have a problem: either admit their original dating was wrong and attempt to redate, or state that these antlions must have eaten something else:

"Modern antlions are best known for their larvae's habit of trapping and devouring ants by concealing themselves at the bottom of small pits. But since ants evolved some 10 million years after this antlion died, the hungry young insect must have feasted on something else."

This happens all the time. According to evolutionists, dinosaurs were thought to be extinct 65 millinos years ago, but the grass they ate was not supposed to be around until much later. However, fossilized dino dung confirms that dinos ate grass, which was yet another "complete shock" to researchers. In another example, bird lice fossils have been 'dated' as pre-dating the bird species which they parasitize.

So once again the question comes down to, Who are you going to believe about the origins of the universe, the God who was there and recorded it for us, or evolutionists and their ever-changing ideas? I'm going with the former!

Hints of Redemption

From ICR's Days of Praise, December 16, 2006

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel"
(Genesis 3:15).

When Adam and Eve rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, God pronounced the dreadful curse on all of His creation, from mankind to the animal and plant kingdoms and even the earth itself (Genesis 3:14-19). From that point on, everything began to die, but at the same time God predicted the coming Redeemer who would set things right.

There are several hints of the coming Redeemer in these early chapters of Genesis. Dr. A. T. Pierson, a Bible scholar of the late 1800s and early 1900s, mentioned an unnamed Hebrew scholar, a Jewish Rabbi, who held that the names of the 10 pre-Flood patriarchs (Adam to Noah) formed a redemptive sentence when read together. Keep in mind that certain meanings of some of these names are lost in antiquity, but the exercise is interesting, if not definitive. According to the Rabbi, Adam means mankind; Seth, is appointed; Enos, mortality; Cainan, wailing for the dead; Mahalaleel, God be praised; Jared, He shall descend; Enoch, a mortal man; Methuselah, dismissing death; Lamech, the weary; Noah, rest. Stringing the translations together yields the following sentence: "Mankind is appointed |to| mortality, wailing for the dead. God be praised. He shall descend, a mortal man, dismissing death, |bringing to| the weary, rest."

Modern scholars prefer Enoch as dedicated man, Methuselah as when he dies, judgment, Lamech (uncertainly) as conqueror, and Cainan (very uncertainly) as humiliation. Our sentence now reads "Mankind is appointed |to| mortality, |bringing| humiliation. God be praised. He shall descend, a dedicated man. When He dies |as| judgment, |He will| conquer, |bringing| rest." JDM

When Will There Be Peace in the Middle East?

One can glean from Scripture that there will never be peace in the Middle East that is - until Antichrist's rule, which will begin after the rapture, and probably because of it. No new superpower has to surface, or new war has to materialize, for the Rapture and subsequent events to occur. The sudden disappearance of 100 million Christians should suffice to catapult Antichrist into power, leaving those left behind to desperately search for answers that only he can provide with his "lying signs and wonders." He is the only one who can make peace, at which time (towards the end of his 7 year reign) all nations will come against the "city without walls" - Israel who has been lulled into a sense of peace by him. This will be Armageddon, where Christ himself will have to intervene to save Israel and begin His millennial kingdom.

When will this all begin? No one knows, but at Jesus' own command, we are to look to the heavens in anticipation of his return. Therein lies Imminency the belief that nothing else has to happen from a prophetic perspective for the rapture to take place. In other words, it could happen tomorrow. Christ likened what the world would be like at that time to the days of Noah, and Sodom and Gomorrah. But what he emphasized was this: people would be marrying, buying and selling, and carrying on. In any event, He wants his Church to be ready for Him.

This is not the only take on the end times, but it is the one that seems makes the most sense. God is has made Israel a "burdensome stone" to all nations (as evidenced by the amount of resources the United Nations has put into that tiny little region) and will punish them all for dividing Israel (see UN Res 181, also Bush's Road Map to Peace). It is my belief based on Scripture that before that punishment, He will get his people out of wrath's way.

Holy Spirit

From the day my Mom, Caryl, died 9 months ago, I've noticed a change in my Dad. He is an example of how to lean on God during the tough times in life. He has also been purposefully trying to lead others to Christ, and the way he is doing so is so sweet and loving that I just know it has to be the Holy Spirit working through him.

Case in point is a Christmas card he sent to my mom's brother who is down on his luck. In the card was some money, and this message. This is a perfect illustration of Christ's love lived out in a follower.

Please consider this a gift from your beloved sister Caryl; a gift requires no return favors. It is from her heart that still lives within me. I have enclosed a Bible tract. Some call this tract The Romans Road to Heaven. Caryl knew this road, and took it. God gave us a gift the gift of salvation through Christ whose birth we celebrate. This gift too requires no return favors, only a grateful, repentant heart. I pray you are on this road.

"Strong Delusion"

I was reading Scripture the other day and came across something that made me think of my non-Christian friends. Are you familiar with the Rapture? Well, the basic idea is that all Christians will dissappear from the earth before the seven year reign of Antichrist, allowing him to rule over who is left. Up to reading 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, I was certain that any non-Christian left on earth would immediately recognize what happened, realize that the Bible was true, and then repent and believe, ultimately saving their souls from hell. I always figured, "better late than never." That was until I read this:

11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

This to me was a shocker, because it effectively set a time limit for those living in these "end times." In other words, for those that heard the Gospel (i.e. Jesus died for your sins) and did not take heart by accepting this free gift will receive a strong delusion to follow antichrist and die with him at the end of his 7 year reign. In other words, it will become impossible for anyone who has had an opportunity to become a follower of Christ before the Rapture to become one after it.

So, I send this with a gentle nudge to anyone putting off the decision to follow Christ, because there is a cut off date, and I believe that cut off date is near. How near is anyone's guess, but all prophecies that needed to be fulfilled before the Rapture have already been fulfilled, resulting in what's called a belief in Imminency, meaning it could happen at any time - no other prophecies need to be fulfilled before the Rapture occurs.

The wierd thing is that, if anyone was to read this blog after the Rapture, any pleading I could do would have no effect. However, that is not the case for anyone reading it now. They still have the free will to choose.

I have tons of notes on the above passage and even a pamphlet concerning the Rapture. If you are interested in either one, let me know.
